Vibram Fivefingers
In 1935, Bramante's death six climbing friends in the Italian Alps was partly blamed on inadequate footwear. After the tragedy he went develop a new sole. Two years later, his invention patented and launched the first rubber soles with tread on the market called the "Carrarmato", with financial support from Leopoldo Pirelli tire manufacturer Pirelli. It was designed to provide excellent traction on the broadest variety of surfaces, a high degree of abrasion resistance, and has been made using the most recent vulcanized rubber.
In 1954, the first successful ascent to the summit of K2 this expedition was already a Vibram sole.
