Victorinox
The founder of the Swiss company Victorinox is Karl Elsener, who opened a blacksmith shop in Ibach in 1884. From the beginning of his activity, he devoted himself to the development of the perfect military knife, which until then were heavy and robust. Elsner lightened the knife and added a can opener, a screwdriver and later an even smaller blade, a corkscrew and a shovel to the equipment. He named this new pocket knife model "officer's knife" and had it registered at the patent office on June 12, 1897.
The name Victorinox is an acronym composed of two words, the name Victoria (Elsner's mother's name) and the words Inox - a designation for stainless steel. Victorinox is today the largest knife manufacturer in Europe, its products are exported to most countries of the world and is synonymous with quality and functionality for generations.
