Mária Kubová

I was born and raised in the beautiful surroundings of Liptovské Sliače, a village with a rich cultural and sports history. My parents also led me to love sports from a young age. I regularly participated in running competitions and there I had the opportunity to experience the magic of racing. I was involved in athletics and cross-country skiing. This shaped me for my whole life.

Thanks to the beautiful environment in which we live, such as Liptov, Malá and Veľká Fatra, High and Low Tatras, I also started with active alpine tourism and climbing. I discovered the magic of ski mountaineering only a few years ago. Patrik's enthusiasm for this sport was highly contagious to me. Since I like an active way of life, I always want to learn something new and push my limits, I started running long mountain runs. This year I am preparing for my first ultrarun. I managed to achieve good results through regular, systematic training and a healthy lifestyle. This year it was the 1st place in the run uphill to Sinná. Thanks to top ski mountaineering equipment from Adam Sport, I took a beautiful 1st place in the Malino Brdo vertical race.

My secret goal is to participate in the Low Tatras fighterjet. I realize that this goal is impossible without high-quality, responsible and systematic preparation. That's why I'm looking forward to my next trainings and pushing my own limits. In my activities, I follow Amby Burfoot's motto (Boston Marathon 1968) "When running, it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are compared to others. It's about your pace and your progress. You can't lose because you're not running against anyone else. You're only running against yourself. And while you run, you win!"
